Greater Atlanta specialty and emergency veterinary care!
VSGA is an emergency and specialty veterinary practice that provides personalized and quality care. We work collaboratively with your local veterinarian to effectively triage emergencies or schedule necessary appointments based on individual needs.
To initiate a scheduled appointment with our surgeons, radiologists, and ophthalmologists, we request that your veterinarian complete a referral form and provide your pet’s medical records.
Emergency cases can also be seen as walk-ins or by referral between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m. Our emergency and critical care specialists can also help manage select medical cases, including cardiac, respiratory, renal, infectious, and immune-mediated conditions.
We strongly value a team approach. The most successful outcomes for your pet occur when we collaborate with your family veterinarian, forming a unified healthcare team. Rest assured, any findings and treatments will be communicated directly to your primary vet. This collaborative effort benefits both you and your beloved pet immensely.
What to expect with your visit
Your first visit to VSGA offers an opportunity for us to get acquainted with both you and your pet. During this visit, our specialist will conduct a thorough examination of your pet to identify their specific needs. Our doctor will take the time to address all your questions and discuss a personalized treatment plan aimed at achieving optimal results.
If surgery is necessary for your pet, here’s what you can anticipate
- Access to a cutting-edge surgical hospital equipped with the latest in surgical and imaging technology.
- A compassionate team of technicians, nurses, overnight caregivers, and professional office staff dedicated to supporting both you and your pet.
- During surgery, an anesthesia nurse will be assigned specifically to monitor your pet’s vital signs continuously reporting back to the surgeon for maximum safety.
On the day of surgery
You will receive pre-operative instructions designed to help prepare both you and your pet. Please arrive at the hospital between 7:30 am and 8:00 am on surgery day. Ensure that no food is given after 10 pm on the night before. Water is permitted until arrival.
If special dietary needs exist for your pet, or if they require medication, bring these items in their original prescription bottles (note we do not accept medications already available in our facility but need dosage details). We do not accommodate raw diets; please plan accordingly. We provide comfortable bedding for pets during their stay with us. Personal items from home are unnecessary and will not be accepted due to the risk of loss or non-return.
We recognize how much trust you are placing in us by leaving your pet under our care. Rest assured knowing they will receive excellent attention throughout their stay here! Feel free anytime throughout this process to call regarding updates about surgeries/recoveries. We will also reach out post-surgery providing status reports and scheduling pick-up times either same-day or following morning depending upon circumstances involved.
Our highly trained staff ensures safety and security are always maintained.
